About Solenne
Solenne is a science company based in Groningen, The Netherlands near the campus of the University of Groningen. Solenne's mission is to contribute to the health of our society and environment using our skills in science and chemistry. The company performs research and development in two areas:
- Human health and appearance (antioxidants for skin care and other applications)
- Alternative energy (compounds used in organic solar).
The company was founded by Dr. David Kronholm and Prof. Dr. J. C. (Kees) Hummelen in 2005. David received his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Kees is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Groningen.
Investors in Solenne include the University of Groningen Holding Co. (RuG Houdstermaatschappij) and NOM, the Investment & Development Agency for the Northern Netherlands. Solenne led the research and development of Oxofulleram and Combray,
and the company is sole owner of the patent pending and trademarks.
Manufacture of Combray is performed at the company's facilities in
Groningen.
