Allergic Response
Repeated exposure to
some products may provoke a delayed response from the immune system.
That is, a reaction may not be apparent on the first exposures to a
substance, but only after repeated exposure. This is due to the immune
system's delay in creating anti-bodies to an allergen. The protocols
testing for allergic response thus involve repeated exposure and
monitoring over time.
Description of Study and Results 25 human subjects were treated with Oxofulleram (0.3%) in grape seed oil (Combray), twice per week over a period of 3 weeks for a total of 6 applications. Treatment was on a Monday/Wednesday or Monday/Thursday schedule. Each application consisted of a 24 hour application of an occluded (covered) patch at the same site as previous applications. Monitoring was performed by a trained dermatologist. No adverse reactions of any kind were observed in any of the subjects.
